Newborn Photography & Videography — FAQ

When is the best time to photograph a newborn?

The ideal time for newborn photography is within the first 5–14 days after birth, when babies are sleepier and naturally curl into gentle poses.

Sessions can still be scheduled beyond this timeframe with a more lifestyle-focused approach.

Where does the newborn session take place?

Newborn sessions can take place:

  • In the comfort of your home, or
  • At my fully prepared in-home studio

Both environments are calm, warm, and designed to ensure your baby’s comfort and safety.

What is your in-home studio like?

My in-home studio is a dedicated newborn photography space offering:

  • Controlled, soft lighting
  • Neutral and styled backdrops
  • A warm, quiet environment
  • Comfortable seating for parents

It is designed specifically to create clean, timeless newborn portraits.

Do you provide props and wraps?

Yes. I offer a wide variety of carefully selected props, wraps, blankets, headbands, bonnets, baskets, and styling elements for both baby girls and baby boys.

Everything is chosen to create soft, elegant, and timeless images while keeping your baby safe and comfortable.

You are also welcome to bring meaningful personal items if you would like them included.

What is the difference between sessions at my home and your in-home studio?

Your home session creates intimate, lifestyle-style images using natural light and your personal surroundings.

In-home studio sessions provide a more styled and controlled setup with curated props and consistent lighting for a polished look.

We will choose the setting that best aligns with your vision.

How long does a newborn session take?

Newborn sessions typically last 2–3 hours, allowing time for:

  • Feeding
  • Changing
  • Soothing
  • Gentle posing

The session always moves at your baby’s pace.

Is newborn photography safe?

Yes. Safety is the highest priority. All posing is gentle and natural. I never force uncomfortable positions and always prioritize your baby’s well-being.

Parents remain nearby at all times.

What should the baby wear?

Simple wraps, neutral onesies, or minimal clothing photograph beautifully. Many styled options are available at the studio, and guidance is provided before your session.

What should parents wear?

Soft, neutral tones photograph best. Avoid bold patterns and heavy logos. Coordinated outfits (rather than identical clothing) create timeless family portraits.

Can parents and siblings be included?

Yes. Family participation is encouraged and often results in the most meaningful images from the session.

How many images will we receive?

Image quantity depends on your selected package. Each gallery includes a curated mix of:

  • Baby-only portraits
  • Styled prop setups
  • Parent moments
  • Family portraits
  • Detail shots (hands, feet, expressions)

Is retouching included?

Yes. Professional retouching includes:

  • Skin tone refinement
  • Gentle redness reduction
  • Minor blemish cleanup
  • Soft tonal balancing

The final look remains natural and timeless.

When will we receive the photos?

  • Proof gallery: 5–7 business days
  • Final edited images: 7–14 business days after selection

Rush delivery may be available upon request.

How do we book if the due date is uncertain?

Your session is tentatively reserved around your due date. Once baby arrives, we confirm the exact date.

What if the baby is fussy?

That is completely normal. Newborn sessions are designed with patience and flexibility. Breaks for feeding and soothing are always accommodated.
